It comes with a large charging dock that can run for weeks without needing to be empty, and it has impressive navigation skills and automatic emptying on carpets and floors that are not cleaned. It also comes with a smart mapping system and can be programmed to only run during certain times (a useful feature for keeping the sly children and animals from running amok). The Shark isn't as powerful than some other  robot vac uum/mop combos but it's effective in removing hair and pet hair. It is the best value of our top picks.

Best for Hard Flooring

Robot vacuums are best for hardwood floors, as they can maneuver through obstacles with ease without causing damage floors that aren't. They are capable of removing crumbs and dust, but they struggle with pet hair and larger debris. They don't have the suction power of a top-of-the-line upright or canister vacuum, meaning they're not the best option for rooms with carpets or upholstery that requires deep cleaning.

The best two-in-1 robots combine mopping and vacuum and take care of an entire task in one sweep. Choose a model that has an onboard sensor that detects any changes in the flooring and adjust suction in line with the changes. If you have a lot of hardwood floors in your home, you might want to think about a robot mop and vacuum like the Eufy S1 Pro. They tend to be cheaper than the higher-end models as well, but you'll have to empty their dirt bins at end of each cleaning session.

A few years ago robotic vacuums experienced a major change. Manufacturers began adding sensors that allowed them to navigate and avoid household items that their conventional sensors might get stuck on or run across. The new sensors don't solve all issues with these devices however.
