The i3+ EVO and its sibling the i3 EVO are both identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. This makes the i3+ an excellent option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but don't mind manually emptying their robot's dustbin when it is full.
Both robots are good at removing surface dirt on carpets and hard floors and are able to move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we test. It could get stuck on power cords and socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces like rug and hardwood.
iRobot recommends that you tidy up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it might encounter. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dustbin and filter clear so they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically empties the dirt into the station's external dustbin. It then continues cleaning from where it began. Battery life is about an hour-and-a-half of continuous use. It takes three hours to fully charge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the latest features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. -- the most important feature of all -- it has self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, which allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can direct your robot using the app or voice.
In our testing, the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our second-placed model, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types, including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin that eliminates the main sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.
We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning session and to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. After being connected, to give voice commands to the i7+, such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a world of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of households, but it also fits nicely on the coffee table or a bookshelf where you can wave it around like an enchanted tool.
The V10 is powered with a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery, which produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system traps allergens, then releases fresh air into your home. Its flat front allows it to reach corners and edges of walls.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home. It's not equipped with the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, like our top picks, i3+EVO and j7+ Series. As a result, it may get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and frequently is power-depleted before making it back to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways in that it has fewer components that need regular cleaning It also comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is better at moving itself.
